VESSEL | Platform

LOCATION | West Madura, Indonesia

DATE | June 2018

Overview

CTS was contracted by a leading oil and gas major to conduct a Routine Major Service HVAC M-101 A at the PHE-5 area. The service required that acceptable environmental conditions were maintained with respect to temperature, pressurisation, ventilation rate, fresh air requirements, vibration noise level for comfort of occupants, equipment functionality, module integrity and safety.

We supplied detailed construction designs for installation and arranged the procurement of the required equipment. To ensure satisfactory functionality we expertly verified the system to ensure its safe operation including good accessibility to all parts and components for later inspection, repair and maintenance.

Scope of Works

  • Install the electric cooling rooftop unit 98kw.
  • Conduct blasting and coating for steel ducting outside areas.
  • Install the electrical control panel and PLC cable.
  • Test and commission the unit.
  • Provide project management, design and documentation.

Project Gallery

Result

A challenge faced during the contract was synchronising the delivery of equipment during the limited port stay. Though, armed with our wealth of experience we were unphased by this and leveraged our know-how to ensure that the required and sufficient materials arrived in good time.

The weather in the area was another obstacle as it is prone to frequent storms, which held up work due to HSEQ regulations. In order to surmount this, we used all available work time at full capacity and streamlined our processes to work most efficiently. Upon this successful project completion CTS teams have been asked to replace another existing unit in the near future.

Client Feedback

The unit is better and more sophisticated with a PLC system, providing cooler temperatures, and makes it easier for maintenance.

CLIENT | Leading Oil Major

VESSEL | LNG Tanker

LOCATION | Cardiff, Qatar, Korea

Date | Oct 18 – Dec 18

Overview

Approached by Leading Oil Major to carry out works on two of its tankers, CTS was engaged to upgrade the chiller cooling systems for inert gas production.

Due to having to maintain normal operations of the vessels, the obstacle to this project was that the system would always be running and could not be removed. In order to circumvent this CTS suggested that the best course of action in this case would be to upgrade the system with the BITZER compressor in-situ thus not disturbing usual operations.

Scope of Works

  • Renew the old Hartford compressor with the BITZER.
  • Update the program to support the modification.
  • Work on stainless steel pipes to enable the new connection.
  • Test and commission the entire system from combustion to the production of inert gas.

Project Gallery

Result

Upon carefully studying the system in order to accurately convert the obsolete compressor with the new BITZER, CTS was able to upgrade the PLC and return it to a fully functioning state.

This was all possible due to the vast experience gained from many jobs completed by our specialist teams and their knowledge and know-how when tackling any obstacles that arise. This included managing to do hot work inside the IG room of an LNG (that carries flammable product), by conducting excellent safety practice.

Client Feedback

“Helpfulness and conduct of project staff was excellent, as was the safety induction on arrival.

Would recommend CTS services to others and we have contracted CTS to complete work on a sister vessel.”

VESSEL | Jack-Up Rig

DATE | June 2016

LOCATION | Dubai

Project Brief

Our client called upon CTS to analyse and provide a solution for the HVAC issues faced on-board their jack-up rig. CTS provided expertise with certified personnel to give a custom EPC solution within time.

• Transformer room: in the peak summer in UAE, the transformer room temperature was going higher than the safe operating conditions.
• Galley System: in the peak summer, outside temperature reaches 48C DB / 30C WB. With the existing system on-board the temperature inside the galley went up to 36 °C.
• PLC Room: cooling was not sufficient, on inspection rust and damage was found on the condenser fins which obstructed optimal heat exchange.

Scope of Work

  • CTS provided and installed a new sea water cooled packaged AC unit and a new duct was connected to the transformer room.
  • CTS provided new condensing unit for spot cooling purpose in galley and improved the room temperature by 10°C.
  • Condenser unit replaced in order to achieve sufficient cooling for the PLC room. CTS provided CARRIER certified personnel with the special equipment to connect to the PLC system. This was critical for troubleshooting and onward adjustment of parameters to achieve desired results.
